hope

I couldn't let today pass without a moment to reflect on the history that was made in our country this afternoon. And look at the lovely 1992 wedding photo from Barack and Michelle's wedding day. I love weddings because no matter what happens a year or ten years down the road a wedding day is always filled with hope and promise. Today I feel that way. Hopeful. And proud to be an American for the first time in a very long time.

  1. Barack Obama is in white-tie and tails just like last night.

  2. Lovely. I have so much hope for Obama, and I am not even American (I lived in the mid-west for a time though). There was such similar emotion in 2007 when out PM Kevin Rudd won after eleven years of a conservative leader with little egalitarian vision. I love Michelle's look, unlike some of the bridal gowns of the early 90s, hers is simple and classic.

  3. I just stumbled across your blog and love it. My heart stopped when I saw this photo. It's just perfect for the 20th of January. And my fiance proposed to me at the inauguration ceremony. I'm trying to think of fun ways to incorporate the proposal into the reception.

  4. Wow. How unbelievably wonderful that he proposed on that day and you were there. It has to be a good omen!
