fresh orange

Some cheerful details to brighten up this gloomy NW day. Bright orange just screams fun to me. How could a wedding not be fun with that darling cake?? (all photos The Knot except for #3 from Martha Stewart Weddings)

etsy friday

This has to be one of my all-time favorite groom's gift finds. Designer Sherry Truitt will custom make these with your choice of locations. How about the city where you met and where he proposed? Or your hometowns - one on each cuff? Perfect for your big day and a lovely, sentimental keepsake.

melissa + mike

Very sweet wedding shot by One Love Photo on Fox Island near Seattle. Such charming details. The couple love to restore old houses and they wove this passion into their day by sharing the stories of local historic homes on cards at each table. I adore the bouquet and how fun is it having the cake tiers as individual cakes! These photos are gorgeous.

shimmery pink

Pink with a bit of shimmer is one of my very favorite palettes and it is very in vogue at the moment. Romantic, elegant and very French. (photos: 1 & 3 -Jessica Stam via this is glamorous, 2,4, & 6- the knot, 5- brides.com, 6-Martha Stewart Weddings)

so pretty

Simply lovely gowns from the 2009 Giambattista Valli line.

press kit

Since many readers have asked about the nuts and bolts of my business via email I thought I would share the press kit I have just put together. This is what I am sending out to local and regional bridal magazines and newspapers to hopefully get my work featured in those publications. When designing the kit, I started with the idea of creating what would look a bit like a wedding invitation and added design elements that tie into the marketing look I have created for my business - pink, modern lettering and a chrysanthemum flower. I included a business card, hand-written note to the appropriate editor, sheets with photos of items and a pricing sheet with descriptions of the materials I use. The other thing I added is a tiny organza flower attached to a magnet and wrapped it in a velum envelope like a package. Editors get piles of stuff in the mail and a little give-away is a way to hopefully have my kit stand out from the crowd. Wish me luck!

spring green

I know it is only February but I am desperate for spring and I simply love the fresh green that usually begins to arrive in March here in the Northwest. Can't wait! (photos 1, 4 & 5 - Brides.com 2 & 3 - Martha Stewart Weddings)

speaking of invitations

A great reminder from The Bride's Blog over at Martha Stewart. Make sure to give your photographer a clean, full set of your invitations for him/her to capture a photo of it all together. A lovely remembrance of one of my favorite wedding details. (photos: Martha Stewart Weddings)
