Beautiful pieces from Portland designer Holly Stalder's Etsy shop. She makes lovely custom shrugs from vintage lace, ribbons, buttons etc. Holly filmed this great process video for Etsy too that shows her at work in her studio creating a shrug.

vera wang on weddings

Wow, Vera has her very own Barbie doll! And some gorgeous gowns from her Luxe Collection (=very expensive). This modified mermaid style is her signature and the top gown with the ruffley flower and layers of organza is my favorite gown from her 2008 collections. I do have to say that I was shocked to find some very simple wraps on her website for insane amounts of money. $850 for a simple organza wrap!! A reminder to shop around because as I am sure most of you know "you get what you pay for" doesn't always apply in the bridal world.

I had to share this wow photo from Forever After Images via the fabulous blog Bride Chic. How bold do you have to be to go for red on your wedding day?? If you haven't visited Amy-Jo's blog before you should take a look. She is a designer with an immense knowledge of all the ins-and-outs of bridal fashion.

the coordinated party

Coordinating the bridal party with the bride's look is a classic way to go and here are some beautiful examples from brides.com. I am mad about the pretty sage green capelets and the gorgeous necklace the bride in the top photo is wearing. I'm not 100% sure about bridesmaids in white but apparently the original purpose of bridesmaids was to confuse evil spirits to keep the bride from harm on her wedding day. To do this the bridesmaids were suppossed to look like the bride so if you are superstitious this may be the way to go!

Open up those pocketbooks ladies, Spring 2009 Chanel Couture is here. Very sweet and sophisticated. I swear if I get married again it will be in one of these (don't worry honey I love being your wife but could we do another wedding just for fun?!?). By the way did anyone catch the t.v. movie about Coco's life story? I stumbled across it one night while flipping channels. It was a bit on the cheesy side, a Lifetime movie I think, but fascinating all the same. She certainly was one of kind.

Very fun, Marie Antionette-ish photo shoot in Brides U.K. I have to say that I am loving the trend for brides to wear colors other than white. The bronze featured here is very sexy and elegant at the same time.

She is getting married this summer so she loves modeling all of my stuff and dreaming of the multiple weddings (to the same guy!) she would like to have.

i heart the 60's

The fashions of the early to mid-60's are my absolute favorites and this photo shoot for Provonvias is a divine flashback. My mom's dress for her 1965 wedding was a bit like the top one but with 3/4 length sleeves and she wore her hair in the same super-bun. I love the bottom look but you would have to be tiny to pull off all of that pouf!
